Everything, for where you are in San Marcos
Getting started, and getting stable. A Social Security number, a driver's licence, school enrolment, a bank account, and somewhere to live that will take you without US credit.
Renting without a credit history
The wall most families hit in their first month, and the ways through it.
What newcomers get wrong
Mistakes that are normal, expensive, and avoidable if somebody tells you first.
Your first thirty days
What to do in what order, and why the order matters more than the speed.
Not legal, immigration, tax or medical advice. The notes marked as local are from people here; everything else is written once and is correct anywhere, which is why nobody rewrites it per city.
Already asked
Questions people here have answered
Nothing yet. Ask the first one, and the answer stays here for whoever arrives next.
Ask somebody who lives in San Marcos
A real person answers, and their answer stays here so the next person does not have to ask.
You should not have to work out San Marcos alone.
Membership is free. Tell us where you are and somebody here will be in touch.
